Before / After
This massive renovation/addition in beautiful Laurelhurst was a huge success! We maintained a low roof-line by incorporating dormers on the second floor turning a tight attic space into a truly comfortable second story. We also added a foot in ceiling height to the first floor and added about ten feet onto the back of the home to make the first floor more comfortable.
Project Overview
The challenge and goal with this whole house remodel and addition was to keep the roof-line aligned with the neighboring homes while packing as much living space on the second floor as possible. We accomplished this through the efficient use of dormers that also created interesting architectural appeal in the second-floor rooms with vaulted ceilings to create volume in each room. There are several favorite features of this home, such as the unique access to the laundry from both the oversized master closet as well as from the 2nd floor hallway. The Pratt and Larson tile in the kitchen coupled with the Visual Comfort fixtures over the kitchen island were also detail home-runs.
