Project Overview
This was a complete whole house remodel where the objective was to maintain all of the original street facing elevations with only a small addition in the rear to accommodate a proper mudroom and to allow for the stairs to connect well with the basement. The entire second floor plan was revised to accommodate a large master suite complete with a nook in what originally would have been a sleeping porch off of the rear of the house, along with two bedrooms, a bathroom and laundry. All without moving a single window location. The 3rd floor attic was properly finished where a bathroom was added for the bedroom and office space. The basement was completely reconfigured to accommodate another bedroom suite, wet bar, and media room. Significant structural reinforcements were made including a foundation replacement for the sleeping porch section of the home and steel beams through the center of the home to reverse some settling conditions. Some of the favorite parts of this project were all the treasures we found along the way ranging from the original gas lighting to the corset that was found along with letters, etc. Of course, we love the restored hutch and other period details as well!
